What if I don't have a family coat of arms?
Historically, a coat of arms could only be held by one person in a family. Recent practice inhas been for anyone with the same surname to use the “family” arms. We can research your surname to determine if a coat of arms has ever been used and, if not, our designers can help you design your own arms using traditional heraldic symbols or modern symbols to represent the character traits, professions or hobbies you would like your coat of arms to display.
What do you mean by “Mirrored for Sealing”?
In the past, wax seals were used to convey the legitimacy and confidentiality of the document or letter to which it was affixed. To have the wax seal readable, it must be engraved in reverse (mirror image). This is especially important if you use a name or motto scroll on your ring.
Can I have something else besides a coat of arms engraved?
Yes. We can put initials, logos or any other design you want on top of the signet ring. Please contact us to discuss your request.
Can I have something engraved inside my ring?
Yes. Please convey your request along with your order confirmation number to sales@cityprideltd.com .
How can I find out my finger size?
Most local jewelers will be happy to size your finger for you. However, if it is not possible to have your finger sized by a jeweler, we will mail you a disposable sizer for you to use. Please remember that the wider the ring, the tighter it will fit.
What metals can the rings be made in?
We work in Sterling Silver, 14 karat yellow and white gold, 18 karat yellow and white gold and platinum.
What is the difference between silver, white gold and platinum?
Silver, gold and platinum are all different metals, each with its own properties. In jewelry, we typically add alloy metals to the precious metals to give them additional properties such as hardness, durability and workability. Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% alloy. 14 karat gold is 58.3% gold and 41.7% alloy metals. 18 karat gold is 75% gold and 25% alloy metals. White gold (either 14 or 18 karat) is an alloy of gold, which is always yellow, and alloy metals, primarily nickel, which turn it white. Platinum is typically alloyed with other exotic metals such as Ruthenium or Iridium in a ratio of 90% platinum and 10% alloy.
