Non Compos Mentis

NON COMPOS MENTIS (Founded 2021) 

Membership is open to any adult (18+) who can prove descent from an ancestor (or a sibling of an ancestor) who was determined to be non compos mentis (not in one’s right mind).  The Society seeks to recognize these persons because they often were institutionalized and forgotten, even by members of their own family. In addition to modern documentary sources, many colonial court records exist to document early instances of non compos mentis.
