Membership requires lineal descent from A law enforcement officer, peace officer, or any public-sector employee or agent charged with upholding the peace and empowered to arrest criminals.
The following are the eligibility categories for active members who have attained the age of eighteen (18) and whose lineal ancestors served before 1861 in one of the following categories:
Sheriffs, High Sheriff, Under Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff, Constables, High Constables, Lesser Constables, Marshals, as of 1835 Corps of Rangers in Texas, High Sheriffs in Arizona and New Mexico as of 1846, Bailiffs, Night Watch, Deputy, Jailers, Gaolers, Conservator of the peace, Prison Guards, Detectives (not private), Police Officers (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, et al), Correctional Officers, Customs Officers, Immigration Officers, Court Officers, Probation Officers, Parole Officers, Auxiliary Officers, and all the deputies of the above.
